What is Personal Care?

HomeCare by Design's personal care is a comprehensive non-medical home care service designed to assist older adults with various day-to-day activities:

  • Dressing

  • Personal grooming

  • Bathing

  • Toileting

  • Mobility and transfers

Our dedicated personal caregivers are also available to lend a helping hand with additional tasks, such as:

  • Errands

  • Meal preparation

  • Light housekeeping

  • Medication reminders

  • Other routine activities

With our personalized approach, we ensure your senior's optimal safety, comfort, and well-being. Having a HomeCare by Design caregiver by your loved one's side can also help reduce the risk of senior isolation.

Our services are tailored to support individuals with chronic health conditions or physical disabilities, providing them with the personal home care assistance they need. Trust HomeCare by Design to provide compassionate and comprehensive care for your loved one's unique needs.

Personal Care vs. Companion Care

At HomeCare by Design, we understand the differences between personal care and companion care, and how they cater to unique needs. While both services offer non-medical support and companionship, there are distinct variations in their roles.

Personal caregivers possess specific skills and capabilities to provide direct physical assistance, including help with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and other tasks that require hands-on support. They are trained to handle various responsibilities while offering physical assistance.

On the other hand, companion caregivers excel in providing companionship, emotional support, and assistance with non-physical tasks such as running errands or light housekeeping. They do not provide direct assistance with ADLs or tasks that necessitate physical aid.

At HomeCare by Design, we recommend personal services when your loved one requires direct physical assistance or is managing a chronic health condition like post-stroke deficits or dementia. If your loved one does not require this level of assistance, we may suggest companion services to foster companionship and provide support on non-physical tasks.

Rest assured, we offer tailored solutions to meet the specific needs of your loved one, ensuring they receive compassionate care that aligns with their individual requirements.

Get Started with Personal Care Services

HomeCare by Design understands the significance of aging adults staying in the comfort of their own homes for as long as possible. Initiating private home care services with HomeCare by Design is a seamless process.

Our dedicated care coordinator will arrange a complimentary consultation to introduce you to our approach to in-home assistance and address any questions or concerns you may have. During this consultation, your coordinator will gain insights into your loved one's situation, enabling us to create a personalized care plan and schedule tailored to their needs.

Following the consultation, your coordinator will carefully select a caregiver whose skills and abilities align with your loved one's specific requirements and preferences. This ensures that your loved one receives the optimal care and support they deserve. At HomeCare by Design, we strive to make the process of finding the perfect caregiver as smooth as possible.
